When more people at one address need photographs — family, a team, neighbours. The studio is already set up, so you only pay for the time.
A document photograph has one job: to pass. It does not have to flatter you. It has to meet the requirements to the millimetre, so the clerk does not send you back to complete the application.
The requirements are published on gov.pl and I follow them on every frame: white background without shadows, face filling 70 to 80 percent of the image, head straight, neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes clearly visible and looking into the lens.

At the studio in Libertów — possible, but needs arranging in advance. I no longer live there, so I travel out specially, and the studio is mostly used for product work and sessions. Hence the price.

At your place or at the studio: 200 PLN, plus 2 PLN per kilometre for travel, counted from Zygmunta Glogera street in Kraków.
The price does not depend on the type of document. It depends on time: setting up the studio, arranging the light and travelling take the same regardless of whether it is an ID card or a US visa.
So for an ordinary ID photograph I recommend the remote option. Travel and studio make sense when you need controlled conditions — with a child, an elderly person, or when the photograph should actually be good rather than merely compliant.
Stand facing a window during the day, with your back to a white wall. Ask someone to take the photograph from about a metre and a half away, at the height of your eyes. Use the rear camera, not the front one — the selfie camera distorts facial proportions.
Look straight into the lens, do not tilt your head, do not smile and do not open your mouth. No filters, no beauty mode. Send the original file, not a screenshot and not a photograph previously sent through a messenger — compression destroys the detail needed for verification.
I check the material before you pay anything. If something disqualifies it — a shadow on the face, a tilted head, a reflection in glasses — I will write and ask for another.
You receive a digital file with the parameters required for the online application, plus a print sheet with six photographs and cutting marks, ready to print anywhere for a few zloty.
Prescription glasses are allowed, provided the eyes are clearly visible, the frames do not cover the eyebrows and the lenses do not reflect light. Tinted lenses require a disability certificate attached to the application. Contact lenses are fine if they do not change the colour or shape of the eyes.
Facial hair is allowed if it does not hinder recognition. So is jewellery, as long as it does not cover the oval of the face or disturb the background.
Head covering only for religious reasons, with a certificate from a religious community registered in Poland, and with the oval of the face and the line of the ears uncovered.
Ears do not have to be visible, and hair may extend beyond the edge of the frame. Two things people worry about unnecessarily.
The photograph must be taken no earlier than six months before the application is submitted.
For children under five the rules are gentler: the child may have closed eyes, an open mouth or an unnatural expression. Worth knowing before the battle for the perfect frame begins.
The face must be uncovered, the head held straight, and the child must be alone in the frame — no parent holding them from the side.
With a child, coming to you usually works best. In familiar surroundings a child behaves differently than in a strange studio, and I have the time and do not rush. I take dozens of frames to be sure the right one is there.
ID card: minimum 492 by 633 pixels, up to 2.5 MB, in proportions matching the 35 by 45 millimetre format.
Passport applied for online — which in Poland applies only to children under twelve: minimum 768 by 1004 pixels, also up to 2.5 MB.
I prepare the file with the correct parameters regardless of which option you choose.
A US visa requires a 2 by 2 inch square. Visas for India, China and several other countries have their own formats and their own rules.
Tell me which country and which document — I will check the current requirements before preparing the file. Rules change, and a photograph rejected at a consulate costs considerably more than one question asked beforehand.
The mObywatel app lets you take an ID photograph yourself, free of charge. There are also services that process photographs automatically, usually for a few dozen zloty.
For a straightforward case that is entirely sufficient and I will not pretend otherwise. mObywatel itself notes that the final decision rests with the clerk.
The difference shows up with glasses, a child, unusual lighting or a foreign document. There the material is examined by someone who knows where offices usually stop — and that can be the difference between an application accepted first time and a second trip.
If an office nevertheless rejects a photograph I prepared, I correct it at no extra charge.
